2017 in a few words: What a year, my friends!
2017 started very intensely. After a successful CBT1 in English late 2016, we worked on preparing the first localisation of MU Legend in our covered languages. With more than 350.000 words to translate in 5 languages + the changes on the English version based on feedback we had received. That was a real endurance race! Our different localisation teams made it happen in time and that led to a smooth CBT2 in February. Some players that didn’t had the chance to enjoy the game due to the language barrier before were finally able to understand the game. After this week of data, we came home with a big smile on our faces, but also a long list of homework to do.
On the other side of the world, the game officially released in Korea. For the in-between months, the community continued to grow bigger and bigger on Facebook, asking about the next testing phase. While we really wanted to be your summer blockbuster, we had to face it, the fine-tuning we wanted to do and the localisation changes required for OBT were just too much and we had to delay our release.
In September, the headline hit the news, OBT release would take place early November, and to evaluate some more the technical aspects of the infrastructure, we would launch an 8-hour stress-test. The player response was impressive:
A few minutes after opening, the server was full, and it stayed like this for the whole duration of the stress-test.
With more knowledge on the server setup, we could finally open the doors of MU Legend’s OBT a few months later. The success was even bigger than we could anticipate, quite literally, leading to many server openings in the first few days. We also reached an important milestone: 100.000 Facebook fans across the world, and counting!
Of course, such a release will always have a few hiccups, when there are rankings, there are always a bunch of people (not players) that forget about fair-play and will do anything they can think of to take advantage, not based on their skills, but by cheating. Of course, we also encountered the usual plague of MMO games: botters, cheaters, goldsellers. We had to take drastic actions to limit their impact on the early OBT. It was difficult, and as you probably know, some legit players got caught in the net. With the frequent update of our tools, we were able to provide an improved game environment. And more and more botters are kept at bay. We are not reducing our efforts, as we are committed to make the MU continent an enjoyable place. A few bugs have been ironed out and we are continuing the curation of our bug reports.
On top of the bug fixes, the first few weeks saw the addition of the 3v3 PvP game mode, and our first thematic event for the end-of-year holidays.
What’s next? A quick look at 2018…
If you are an avid follower of our social networks, you might have heard that we are already working on the next update: the Faction War Tournament!
This content will please all the guild masters, quenching their thirst for world domination, and their crew, eager to fight the near-by guilds.
We are gamers ourselves, and we know how frustrating it can be to wait for content on your beloved-game. So, we have good news, you will only have to wait a couple of weeks as this content update is scheduled for January!
But let’s take the spyglass and look even further now! Many important landmarks are awaiting the MU Legend fans.
Our players are asking about her since the first CBT: When can we play the Spellbinder (formerly known as the Emphasizer)? In the coming months, the players of the Global version of MU Legend will be able to awaken the mystic powers of the Spellbinder.
But there’s more. Later this year, it will be time of open the doors of new territories and allow your beloved characters to explore and grow even more.
We will of course spend many events together and celebrate MU Legend’s first anniversary.
To sum it up, 2017 has been a very exciting year, and once we are done with the New Year’s Eve celebrations, we’ll work harder than ever before to deliver even more content for 2018.
Thanks for playing MU Legend, and see you for the next coming years!
